The Wincore sedimentology option to Winlog for Gravitas is one of the first applications to enable you to store, organize and present sedimentological data in a clear and systematic way.

Winlog’s flexible charting ability allows the sedimentologist to draw detailed and accurate logs from core or outcrop data, incorporating features about the depositional environment from grain size, fossil content and minerals to sedimentary structures. When combined with the EZ-Correlate option sedimentologists can create detailed multi-well correlation charts that quickly illustrate a complete basin at the geological scale.

The Wincore option has a series of easy to use drawing tools that allow the user to interactively build up an accurate and detailed sedimentological log quickly and easily.

The Wincore option to Winlog is not just a drawing package, it intuitively understands geological rules. For instance bed shape validation rules warn the user when a geologically incorrect bed has been drawn – e.g. a bed with multiple grainsize values at a single depth. Beds can also be made to optionally snap to depth scale, to each other and to the nearest grain size division on creation, and on editing. The grain-size curve may be exported at any scale to be incorporated as part of the reservoir geological model.

All graphical information depicted on a sedimentology log is automatically converted to data and is safely stored in the Gravitas database. It is easily retrieved on demand for existing logs or to re-use when building new views of existing data on a well.

Gravitas’s multi-phase and multi-user architecture enables the sedimentologist to work with the same well data as used in operations so lithology and wireline/curve data can be easily accessed and incorporated into sedimentology charts.

The Wincore option comes with an extensive library of commonly used sedimentary structure symbols. These sedimentary structures can be stored as graphical metafiles, maintained within a user-definable list and displayed in a floating palette within Winlog for Gravitas. The palette supports easy to understand drag and drop operations to place the structures in the desired location.
