Wellsite Geologist

We have an exciting opportunity for highly motivated individuals to join our offshore team, providing geological expertise.

Joining an established offshore pool of wellsite geologists, this role will require the drive and flexibility to work on a range of wellsite geological operations for HRH’s global client base.  Reporting to our Aberdeen headquarters in all scenarios, you will contribute to the successful delivery of geological services to HRH Geology clients.

Key Responsibilities:

To provide analysis, evaluation and description of formations during drilling operations using cuttings, gas, FEMWD and wireline data

To identify formation boundaries, casing and coring points

To advise on drilling hazards

To report to and advise Client personnel onsite and Client office

Responsible for supervising and provide quality control of Mudlogging, FEMWD and wireline services

To carry out any adhoc geological duties as directed by the Client and to ensure this is communicated to Well Operations Manager

To carry out pre-spud evaluation of offset data

To communicate pre-spud and post well date to Client personnel

To ensure all required documentation is carried out: daily, weekly, post well reporting and completion of logs

To ensure timesheets are completed in accordance with HRH procedures

To train HRH employees as directed

To follow HRH Health & Safety Procedures at all times

To follow HRH HR Policies & Procedures at all times

Key Skills:

Possess good communication skills

Educated to degree level in Geology or Science based subject

Possess a good understanding and knowledge of HRH software

Knowledge of the following:

  • Mudlogging techniques
  • FEMWD and wireline supervision and quality control
  • Quick look wireline log evaluation
  • Coring, SWC and RFT techniques
  •  Gas detection and analysis
  • Formation pore pressure
  • HPHT, horizontal, extended reach drilling

Client Application Support / Tester

Ensure software customers receive in-depth technical solutions/support.  Contribute to maintaining high levels of software quality from initial release from R&D through to deployment and ongoing technical support through testing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide application support to end users and their IT Departments.
  • Advise on how best to set-up and configure HRH software applications.
  • Respond to technical support queries from HRH Clients through the Helpdesk.
  • Escalate Helpdesk issues to the Quality Lead and/or Development Lead as necessary.
  • Create and maintain software help documentation.
  • Work with the Software Development Lead to contribute to the definition of project scope/business requirements.
  • Work with the Quality Lead to define testing procedures.
  • Work with the Quality Lead to plan test schedules and execute in accordance with project scope and delivery
  • Provide end-user technical training as required.
  • Adhere to relevant quality standards, e.g. ISO 9001.
  • Provide software support to internal Gravitas users.
  • Provide ad-hoc support to the ICT department.
Key Skills:
  • Graduate of an IT degree or experience working within a software development environment.
  • An understanding of Database Technologies
  • Excellent oral and written English.
Desirable Skills:
  • Microsoft Windows desktop & server operating systems.
  • An understanding of Active Directory Administration
  • Experience of working with Cloud applications
  • Experience of scripting languages (preferably Python).
  • Experience of Earth Sciences.
